The Professional Foundation
A profession needs a defined foundation.
The School of Account Management™ is built on a shared foundation that defines what Account Management professionals should know, how they should practice, and how professional competency develops.
Part One
What professionals should know.
The Professional Account Manager™ Body of Knowledge
The authoritative educational foundation for professional Account Management. It organizes the knowledge, principles, practices, business context, competencies, and professional expectations that support the discipline.
Part Two
How professionals are expected to practice.
The Six Professional Standards.
I
Knowledge
Understand the principles and practices of professional Account Management.
II
Competency
Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge effectively.
III
Character
Act with integrity, professionalism, and the client's interests in mind.
IV
Leadership
Guide conversations, decisions, priorities, and progress.
V
Accountability
Create ownership and follow-through for commitments.
VI
Continuous Improvement
Continue developing knowledge, judgment, and professional capability.
Code of Professional Conduct™
The Six Professional Standards define how professionals are expected to practice. The Code of Professional Conduct™ defines the specific behaviors those standards require — telling the client the truth, recommending what the business genuinely needs, describing risk accurately without manufacturing fear, protecting confidential information, owning commitments, and continuing to learn. Candidates for Professional Account Manager™ certification formally agree to both.

Trained, Not Appointed05
Mastery
Demonstrate sustained professional capability, leadership, judgment, and continuous improvement.
Professional development does not end with education or certification. Continuous learning, mentorship, community, and practical experience support long-term mastery.
Professional Certification
Three levels of professional certification.
Certification is rigorous and practical. Each level reflects a real increase in knowledge, applied competency, and professional responsibility.
01
Account Management Foundations Certificate
Establishes a shared understanding of the Account Management Operating System for MSPs™ and the professional standard behind it.
02
Professional Account Manager™
Validates that a professional understands the methodology and can apply it in real client relationships.
03
Advanced Professional Account Manager™
Recognizes demonstrated, sustained professional capability and judgment in complex client relationships.
Requires continuing education, mentorship participation, and a demonstrated client case presentation.
The Mentorship Cycle
From certified to capable to mentor.
Certification proves knowledge. Mentorship develops judgment. The mentorship cycle is not a separate certification level—it is the engine that turns a credentialed learner into a practicing mentor and, over time, into an advanced professional.
01
Learn
Learners complete the School curriculum and pass the certification exam to prove they understand the methodology and the professional standard.
02
Practice
Certified professionals apply the methodology inside real client relationships and MSP environments, building evidence through actual work.
03
Demonstrate
Candidates for advanced certification present a real client case, show evidence of competency, and pass a practical assessment reviewed by trained mentors.
04
Mentor
Trained mentors are not appointed; they are developed. Mentors help the next generation of Account Managers through the same cycle, and mentorship participation becomes part of maintaining advanced certification.
Mentors Are Trained, Not Appointed
The next generation of Account Managers is trained by the current one.
Mentorship participation is a continuing-education requirement for maintaining the Advanced Professional Account Manager™ credential.
